Reviewing websites before assigning
With technology growing rapidily and becoming a huge part of classrooms today, it almost seems unavoidable that you as a teacher will have to incorporate it into your lessons. Due to this inevitable accurance, it is vital to your students as well as your sanity and future employment that you review all material, websites, and content before assigning to students. The obvious reason of looking over things is simply so that you know what is going on and have advanced knowledge of things so that you can correctly direct the students in the right direction. The other reason to look over things is due to content. I recently found out that www.whitehouse.com has absolutely nothing to do with the home of the current president of our great country, nor does it have anything to do with our nation's capital or government. However, it does have the capability to destroy your hard drive with spam and your reputation if a student opens it under your direction. It is so easy to travel into unchartered waters when surfing the net. Always bookmark the pages and only allow the students on those sites. Explain to them the importance of following directions and repeat the consequences of not doing so. You as the teacher are responsible for making sure your lessons are age and school appropriate.
